My Picnic Games

To my mind there is nothing more fun or relaxing than a picnic out in sunshine, my childhood memories of picnics are very special and I’d like to share some of my picnic ideas with you.

Picnic games are an essential part of any picnic, they are easy to organize if you do a little bit of planning in advance. They add fun to the outing and are suitable for all ages. Picnic games can help everyone to work up an appetite for the delicious picnic food or work it off afterwards !

There are so many different types of picnic games, they are suitable for all ages, for family picnics and company picnics. Adults and children equally enjoy the novelty races such as the Three Legged Race or the Sack race. Bubbles, kites and hula hoops are great fun ! Music at a picnic will set a great atmosphere, see our Entertainers and Music section for ideas. Team games such Rounders or Tug-o-War will involve everyone and adds to the enjoyment of the day. Have a look at our Throwing Games section, Frisbee, Throwing the Welly and Horseshoe Pitching are old favorites. Chasing Games are very exciting and provide great exercise. Lawn games at picnics are traditional favorites.

We’ve included a list of the picnic games supplies that we’ve found useful over the years for our own picnic games.

Some activities can be started in the days running up to the picnic, this can be useful for children who like to be involved in the planning, it also gives Mom or Dad the chance to prepare the picnic or just a few minutes peace ! For example children can paint the eggs for the Egg and Spoon race, or make invitations for their Teddies and Dolls for the Teddy Bear’s Picnic.
